Building

In 1976, Jay Mills bought his first dozer from older brother Jerry Mills. With that D7 dozer, he started his own small excavation company and named it Jay Mills Soil Conservation Contracting. The first several tears of business, Jay Mills Soil Conservation Contracting was busy building Soil Conservation Dams for the US Soil Conservation Service as well as ponds, clearing, and root plowing for the farmers and ranchers. In 1981, the business was incorporated and the name was changed to Jay Mills Contracting, Inc. As the company grew in 1986, Jay then built offices and a shop located in Stephenville, Texas. In 1993 his son Toby Mills took the reins as President of the company and began expanding in all directions. Today, what started as a small family business has grown to approximately 80 employees, but still operates as a small family company.
